Asymptomatic or mild degrees of hyponatraemia due to SIAD may not require specific treatment. If therapy is deemed necessary, treatment of the underlying cause of SIAD may be sufficient to correct the hyponatraemia. Fluid restriction to 500ml/24h remains the mainstay of SIAD-induced hyponatraemia (Fig. 5.25).
